Life

what is life exactly?

The Perishers – Sway

I talk to you as to a friend
I hope that’s what you’ve come to be
It feels as though we’ve made amends
Like we found a way eventually

A couple who have broken up come together again and talked. He feels as though they’re back to how they were in the past – friends. He hopes that she sees him the same way. That’s how he feels.

It was you who picked the pieces up
When I was a broken soul
And then glued me back together
Returned to me what others stole

She was the one who was always there for him, cleaning up the mess for him, comforting him, putting him back on his two feet.

I don’t wanna hurt you
I don’t wanna make you sway
Like I know I’ve done before
I will not do it anymore
I’ve always been a dreamer
I’ve had my head among the clouds
Now that I’m coming down
Won’t you be my solid ground?

& now, he’s asking her to be his cushion while he’s falling. (How irresponsible can he get?!) He does not want to hurt her anymore, yet he asks her to be his solid ground when he’s falling. That’s a really mean thing a guy can do. – we’re not together, but could you be there for me when I’m down?- How would the girl feel!

I look at you and see a friend
I hope that’s what you wanna be
Are we back now where it all began
Have you finally forgiven me?

& here he is asking for forgiveness. Telling her that he sees her as a friend, hoping she wishes for the friendship too. Asking if they’re back to how things were originally, and asking if she has finally forgiven him (seems like a pretty serious wrong he had committed for this phrase to be in).

You gathered my dreams in
When they all blew away
And then tricked them back into me
You saved me I was almost dead

& once again, she was always there for him. Helping him, comforting him, and saving him from losing himself totally. This lady here seems like a really nice woman, who stands by her guy and helps him w all she has. Yet this guy had hurt her so deeply she left. Now that they have crossed paths again, how does she view him I wonder.

Anyways, that is just my interpretation of the song. You’re welcomed to air how you view it. I’m just writing it in my pov.

Wash: I don’t want you to spare me, Mal. If you think you know what’s happening, then you tell me. You wouldn’t spare Zoë if she were in this situation with you, would you? You would be planning, and plotting and… possibly scheming. So whatever Zoë would do in this instance is what I wanna do. Do you know why? No matter how ugly it gets, you two always come back with the stories. So… I’m Zoë. Now, what do I do? Mal: Probably not talk quite so much. Wash: Terse? I can be terse. Once in flight school, I was laconic.
